Vietnam Robusta (Coffea canephora) is cultivated across the Central Highlands at altitudes between 400–1,500 metres on fertile red basalt soils. The combination of volcanic soil, consistent rainfall, and dry harvest seasons produces green coffee beans with exceptionally high caffeine content (~2.7%) and a dense, heavy body.
The country became the world's leading Robusta exporter in the 1990s following government-backed agricultural expansion. Today, Vietnam accounts for over 40% of global Robusta supply — roughly 1.6 million metric tonnes per year — making it an indispensable origin for coffee roasters worldwide.
Vietnam Robusta is graded under TCVN 4193:2014, which specifies screen size retention, defect counts, moisture limits, and other quality parameters. The most commonly traded grades are G1 Screen 18 (premium) and G1 Screen 16 (standard commercial), both available in Cleaned and Color Sorted variants.
